Asanas are the yoga postures that make up the physical part of yoga, commonly refered to as exercise. There are over 1,000 yoga postures. These postures provide physical strength, greater flexibility, mental steadiness, balance, health, and vigor. Pranayama is breathwork or deep breathing exercises. It is the control of the inhalation, exhalation, and retention of breath, also called vital energy. Breathing is the basis of life, so proper breathing makes the foundation of a healthy life. Meditation is positive thinking. Turning the minds concentration inwards, upon the self, to deepen concentration. Creating stillness in the mind, with no thoughts or desires, so that one can see the self. A conscious mental process that uses various techniques such as focusing attention or maintaing a specific posture to suspend a stream of thoughts and relax the body and mind.
